Nahem Shoa is a contemporary British painter renowned for his powerful figurative and portrait work. Trained under the influential artist Robert Lenkiewicz and later at Manchester Polytechnic and the Royal Drawing School, Shoa has dedicated much of his career to exploring identity, representation, and multicultural Britain through painting. He is particularly celebrated for his monumental Giant Heads series, which brought greater visibility to Black and mixed-race British subjects within museum collections. Combining technical virtuosity with a deep humanism, Shoa’s work is held in numerous public collections across the UK, including the V&A, the Walker Art Gallery, and Manchester Art Gallery, and continues to contribute significantly to contemporary British portraiture
