Born in Staffordshire and encouraged by art teacher Mrs Brammer, the wife of Leonard Brammer one of the foremost artists in the area. Ivan had had over 40 paintings accepted by the BBC where many of them have been used to raise money for UNICEF. As a young lad in the 60's Ivan was very interested in paintings and would regularly visit local Art Gallery's. His influence was mainly the work of Edward Sego, Reginald Hagger, Harold Holmes and Lesley Gilbert. Ivan studied at Burslem and Stafford art colleges; upon leaving he found employment in graphics, first at Lotus shoe factory then on to the pottery industry for a few years. Eventually he set up his own department at the Staffordshire Education Department and stayed there for 18 years. Deciding to leave and paint full time Ivan is driven by the encouragement he has received and it's hardly surprising that he is enthusiastic to encourage others in the same way. We can look forward to Ivan's paintings continuing to delight us as he encompasses texture, colour, shapes and patterns, that he recognizes from reality."Obviousley, painting virtually every day, the strength of some of these shapes and patterns start to emerge." I personally can't wait. 2006 Royal Institute winner - Rowland Hilder Award.
