Liam Spencer was born in Burnley in 1964, and graduated with a degree in Fine Art from Manchester Polytechnic (now the Metropolitan University of Manchester) in 1986. Since that time he has worked from studios in Manchester.
His best known paintings are of the urban landscapes of Manchester, often painted in rich glowing colours. He has exhibited throughout the UK and abroad, and his work is represented in many public and private collections, including the Manchestert City Art Gallery and the Readers Digest Collection in New York, as well as having been the subject of numerous press and magazine articles including "Art Review", "Artists & Illustrators", "Lancashire Life" and "Manchester Life".
In 2000 he was invited to stage the first solo exhibition at the newly opened Lowry Centre in Salford Quays. A retrospective of his work was held at Manchester City Art Gallery in 2006.
He has had exhibitions in Manchester, London, Oxford, Guildford, Cheshire and York
