Born in Staffordshire in 1950 Derek Shapiro has developed via Coalpost China to one of the most respected artist of still life fruit in the country today. In the mid seventies he spent time working at Coalport China, famed for its prestige hand painted products, where he was responsible for many prototypes for limited editions and one off pieces. He now works freelance in oils and watercolours. His subject matter is very diverse and he is happy to paint any subject from Second Wold War battleships to portraiture. He has produced commissioned work for a number of major compaines and fanous families. His work over the last decade has become very collectable. He is represented in a number of leading galleries and is in collections both in the North West and overseas. Signs work D. Shapiro.
