Helen Clapcott is one of the few artist today working in egg tempera. Although born in Blackpool in 1952, it was moving to Stockport at the age of ten that was to become the significant inspiration of her artistic career.
She studied Fine Arts at Liverpool Polytechnic and the Royal Academy Schools and has received both a Green Shield Foundation Award and the David Murray Landscape Award.
For nearly 30 years she has been painting the town of Stockport, concentrating on the changes that have taken place in its urban identity.
